Specialisations and Interests

Nerisha practises as a Partner and Notary Public in the litigation department. She has over 13 years’ experience in general and commercial litigation, and specialises in banking matters, debt recovery, tax litigation and property issues including evictions. She also advises clients on matters relating to anti-competitive behaviour, consumer protection and educational institutions. 

Nerisha formed part of the legal team at Shepstone and Wylie which successfully pursued the appeal Spring Forest Trading CC v Wilberry (Pty) Ltd t/a Ecowash and another 2015 (2) SA 118 (SCA). This case dealt with the validity of cancellation and variation of contracts by e-signatures. The team was awarded Litigation Team of the Year at the African Legal Awards in 2016 for their work on this matter. 

Nerisha also lecturers on an ad hoc basis at the School for Legal Practice, KwaZulu-Natal and sits as a Small Claims Court Commissioner.

Mediation Experience

Nerisha is passionate about mediation and its power to constructively assist individuals and communities overcome their disputes. She is an internationally accredited mediator by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR).

Using her skills in mediation advocacy, Nerisha has assisted clients, ranging from body corporates to blue-chip companies, during the mediation process. Her particular field of interests in mediation disputes relates to commercial disputes and property related matters.

Nerisha serves on the Exco of the KwaZulu-Natal Society of Mediators.
