Candice Friis is a senior litigation attorney and partner at Shepstone & Wylie Attorneys in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal. With over 18 years of experience, she has specialised in matrimonial and family law, gaining expert knowledge in areas such as divorce, maintenance, domestic violence, surrogacy, adoption, and child relocation matters. She holds rights of appearance in the High Court, is a qualified Mediator and has also appeared in court as a Child Legal Representative, appointed by the High Court of South Africa.
Candice holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where she received multiple Dean’s Commendations. She has completed further certifications in the Children’s Act, Notarial Practice, and was secretary of the inaugural Family Law Forum of the KZN Chapter, underscoring her commitment to professional development and ethical legal practice. In her current role, Candice represents clients in various courts, drafts complex legal documents, negotiates settlement agreements, and assists in high-profile litigation cases. She also advises on general litigation and recovery matters. She began her career as a candidate attorney at Morris Fuller Walden Williams before joining Shepstone & Wylie, where she progressed from associate to partner.

Outside of her legal work, Candice has two daughters and enjoys spending time with her family, reading, travelling and game viewing. She is known for her professionalism, compassion, and dedication to achieving the best outcomes for her clients, especially in matters involving the welfare of children. In 2025, Candice was appointed to the Board of Governers for Durban Girls College.
